Imagine a man of about 60, bearded, slightly overweight but still agile, dressed in wide pants. This man is hanging upside down in a neon-colored cloth attached to the ceiling – that’s me. I would never have thought that this could be the beginning of the Atscha Yoga Team.
D
he sling belongs to Imke, a professional aerial yoga teacher.
Next to me, a few other people are hanging somewhat helplessly in these stretchy cloths. Aerial, a very modern, airy variation of yoga. Classical asanas with an ultra-modern twist.
Imke has ended up on the remote Canary Island of La Palma. Twice a year she attracts a handful of people there, experimental yoga for airy beings, I liked it. The rest of the year Imke runs three yoga studios on Lake Constance, serious, classic. In winter, she enjoys spending time in India, going on a retreat with her spiritual teacher and devoting herself to Hindu philosophy.
Now imagine the same man, ten years and ten kilograms earlier, teaching Jnanayoga and Vedanta, the teaching of non-duality, in a yoga ashram. This seminar also includes Violetta, already a yoga teacher, who will continue to deepen her knowledge.
Three years later, I met Violetta again at a “Yoga and creative writing” seminar in Tenerife. I lead the seminar. Violetta is now a qualified yoga therapist and hormonal yoga teacher. With her own yoga studio in Velbert. Here, however, she is only a participant.
I was looking for two very good trainers for the Atscha yoga teacher training team
Imke and Violetta came to mind. I told them about my project, the four-week yoga teacher training in India, and they were thrilled. After a Zoom meeting, they were even more than that: they were on fire!
And now, now Imke is the fire and Violetta is the flame, and I am the (still) water – together we form the mixture that made life on this planet possible, together we are now the
A
tscha Yoga Teacher Team.
That’s how it happened.
